Before the war

He was born in 1821/22 (12 (40 in 1862)).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service as a private on 21 November 1862, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1 [21 Nov 61], 12 [21 Nov 61], 13, 14). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Gregory, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11, 12, 14). He was mustered by Lieutenant Gregory (12, 14). He was a private in company B (1, 22).

On 27 September 1863, he returned from hospital (8).

On 30 December 1863, Sinex reported that he was one of 30 men who had more than fifteen months to serve who were willing to reenlist (4). On 2 January 1864, he was transferred to the 155th Pennsylvania Infantry, while those eligible were on veterans' leave (9).

On 15 April 1864, he was one of seven men in the regimental pioneer corps (3). He was also reported absent without leave on the same day (15), but was reported returned to duty on the next day (16), and reported on furlough on the day after that (17)! On 23 April 1864, he was reported absent without leave (18). He was still absent without leave on 31 May 1864 (21).

On 4 July 1864, he was detailed by Colonel Gregory for duty in the pioneer corps at brigade headquarters (4, 6, 7). He was still there in September (?) 1864 (7).

On 17 September 1864, he was sent to a hospital in Alexandria, Virginia (19). He was returned to duty the next day (20).

On 15 November 1864, Sellers recommended him for duty in the Brigade Pioneer Corps (5).

He was discharged on 27 March 1865, near Petersburg, Virginia, on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 10, 12). He was a private, in company B (22).
