On 11 May 1912, his wife, Mary E Ellwanger, died, at National City, California. She was buried in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery (presumably Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, San Diego County, California). Funeral services for Henry Ellwanger will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Bonham Brothers' chapel under auspices of Heintzelman post No. 33, G.A.R.
Mr. Ellwanger came to National City 27 years ago from Hipass, Calif., where he was engaged in ranching. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Sadie Miller and Harry S. Ellwanger, both of National City. Mr. Ellwanger was a member of the G.A.R. He served with the 91st Pennsylvania, company H, first division, third brigade of fifth corps.
Burial will be beside his wife, who died in 1912, in the family plot at Greenwood Memorial cemetery.
ELLWANGER--In National City, April 19th, 1931, Henry Ellwanger, beloved father of Sadie Miller and Harry S. Ellwanger, all of National City, Calif; aged 86 years; a member of the G.A.R., Rushville, Nebr. Friends are invited to attend services at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Bonham Brothers' Mortuary, under the auspices of Heintzelman Post, No. 33, G.A.R. Interment, Greenwood Memorial Park.
ELLWANGER--At National City, Cal., May 11, 1912, Mary E. Ellwanger, wife of Henry Ellwanger of San Diego and mother of Mrs. S. Miller of National City and Harry S. Ellwanger of San Diego; a native of Pennsylvania, aged 72 years and 24 days.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Johnson, Connell & Saum's chapel, D and Seventh streets, at 10 o'clock a.m. today, Rev. Louis G. Spring officiating. Interment at Greenwood cemetery.
