DEATH OF JOHN EYER.
He Was for Many Years a Resident of Warriorsmark Valley.

John Eyer, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Warriorsmark valley, died at 11.35 o'clock Monday morning, of heart trouble and dropsy. His serious illness had continued only for two months, though he had been ailing somewhat for several years.

The deceased was aged 67 years, 2 months and 14 days. He was born September 26, 1833, on the Eyer homestead three miles east of Tyrone where David and C.V. Eyer now live, and all his life was spent in Sinking and Warriorsmark valleys. He followed the occupation of farmer throughout all his years. Mr Eyer served in the Ninety-first Pennsylvania regiment during part of the Civil War period. He was a devout Christian and was an active member of the German Baptist Brethren church.

Mr. Eyer was married January 31, 1856, to Miss Eliza Myers, who died April 23, 1894. Of the thirteen children born to them, eleven survive, as follows: Lewis M., Howard B. and Wilber C., of Tyrone; Harry, of Lester, Washington; Edgar C., of Warriorsmark valley; Mrs. A. C. Fye, of Davis, Illinois; Mrs. H. C. Garland, of Pittsburg; Ellis G., J. Blaine, Harriet and Gertrude, at the family home. The brothers and sisters surviving are Jerry Eyer, of Everett, Washington; David and C. V. Eyer, at the old homestead; Mrs. Ann Waite, of Bellefonte; Mrs. Mary McClay, of Pittsburg; Mrs. Amanda Myers, of Warriorsmark valley.

The funeral took place Wednesday morning, the friends assembling at the late home of the deceased at 9.58 [?] o'clock and proceeding to the German Baptist church at the Cross Roads for services at 10.30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. S. Long, assisted by Revs. T. R. Coffman and M. O. Lane. Interment in the German Baptist cemetery at Cross Roads.
