In 1870, he was living in Landis Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania (11). He was a farmer, and owned $100 in personal property (11). He was living with his wife Eliza A (11).
In 1880, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his cousin William F Young (and various other family members) (4). He was a house carpenter (4). Also living with him was Elisa A Fleetwood (who was also William Young's cousin, and presumably BW Fleetwood's wife); she was 51 years old, worked at home, at had been born in Pennsylvania (4).
He applied successfully from Delaware for a pension on 23 May 1884 (2, 7).
He died of sclerosis of liver on 9 September 1886 (2, 9, 13). The funeral was held on Sunday, 12 September 1886, from 2240 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (his residence) (9, 13). Members of various organizations were invited to attend (9). The services were at the Emmanuel Church (25th and Brown Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) (9). The relatives and friends of the family, also Veritas [?] Lodge, No. 443, I.O.O.F.; Adelphia Lodge, No. 7, K. of P.; Emmanuel Lodge, Sons of Temperance, and the Ninety-first Regiment P.V.V. Association, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Sunday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, from his late residence, No. 2240 Fairmount avenue.
