During the war

He was drafted from the seventh congressional district (1, 2). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 18 March 1865 (1, 2). He was enlisted for one year, at West Chester, Pennsylvania, by Captain Christmann (2). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 7).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1). He was a private, in company H (7).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Chester Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania (4). He was a carpenter, and owned $600 in personal property (4). He was living with his wife Annie and children Elmer and George (4).

In 1880, he was living at 725 Green Street, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania (5). He was a carpenter (5). He was living with his wife Annie and children Elmer, George, William, and Mary (5).

He died on 13 August 1881 (6).

On 23 July 1890, his widow, Annie E Grubb, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 6).
