On 10 November 1892, he successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 11).

In 1900, he was living at 157 Carver Street, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (9). He was a carpenter, and had been out of work for seven months in the previous year (9).
