In 1856/57, he married Catharine [unknown family name]. She was born in July 1827, in Pennsylvania. They apparently had these seven children:

He was drafted. His service was credited to the sixteenth congressional district. He enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. In 1880, he was living in Southampton Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He was a farm laborer. He was living with his wife Catharine and children Lucinda, Mary, Joseph, Sarah, Julia, along with a nephew and two grandsons. [source: 8]
On 26 May 1881, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension. [sources: 5, 11]
In 1900, he was living in West Providence Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He was apparently not working. He was living with his wife Catharine, children Mary, Sarah, Julia, Simeon, AB McCoy, Alva Johnson, and a boarder. [source: 9]
He died in 1905. He was buried in Everett Cemetery, in Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. [sources: 2, 11]
On 25 [?] March 1905, his widow, Catharine Himes, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension. [sources: 5, 11]
