Before the war

He was born in 1839/40 (3 (23 in 1863), 5 [80 in 1920]). He was born in Pennsylvania (5).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He was mustered into service as a corporal in the 118th Pennsylvania on 4 July 1863 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 3 [24 July], 4).

He was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry on 1 June 1865 (1, 3). He was in company F of the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 6 [sgt]).

On 16 June 1865, he was promoted to sergeant, effective 5 June 1865 (1 [5 June], 2 [effective 16 June], 3 [5 June]).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 3, 4). He was a sergeant in company F (1, 3, 6).

After the war

On 30 March 1883, he applied successfully for a pension (4).

On 14 April [?] 1909, he again applied for a pension (4).

In 1920, he was living in Bradley Beach, Neptune Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey (5). He was living with his daughter Sara Sevens and her family (5). He was not working (5).

He died on 6 February 1920, at Bradley Beach, New Jersey (4).
