Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 3-1/4 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, dark eyes, and light hair (2).

During the war

He was a substitute (1, 2). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 27 March 1865 (1, 2, 5). He was enlisted for one year, at Pottsville, Pennsylvania, by Captain Bowen (2). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 6, 7).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 5 [20 July], 6). He was a private, in company H (7).

After the war

In 1890, he was living in New Castle Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania (post office Pottsville) (5).

On 8 February 1892, he successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).

On 5 March 1907, he again applied for a pension (3).

He died on 13 May 1912, at Pottsville, [Schuylkill County,] Pennsylvania (3, 6). He was buried in St Patricks Catholic Cemetery #3Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania (6).

On 17 May 1912, his widow, Elizabeth Kelly, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).
