In 1850, he was living in Riga, Monroe County, New York (10). He was living with Benjamin and Mary Knickerbocker (presumably his parents), and with Elizabeth, John, Charles, and Clarinda (presumably his siblings) (10). He had attended school within the year (10).
When he enlisted, he was a soldier and was living in Williamsport, Pennsylvania (4, 5, 6).
When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 4-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, grey eyes, and black hair (4, 5, 6).
