Before the war

He was born in January 1839 (6; 2 (23 in 1861), 7 [11 in 1850], 8 [21 in 1860], 9 [31 in 1870], 10 [41 in 1880], 11 [61 in 1900]). He was born in Pennsylvania (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11). He was born to Henry Kreider and Christiana Grazier (6, 7).

In 1850, he was living in Warriorsmark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his parents Henry and Christiana Kreider (his parents) and with others (presumably siblings) (7). He had attended school in the previous year (7).

In 1860, he was living in Warriorsmark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with Henry and Mary Krider, and with others (8). He was a farm laborer (8).

He married Annie E [unknown family name], in 1861/62 (6, 11). In 1900, she had had four children, all of whom were alive (11).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 15 September 1861 (1, 2 [11 Sep], 3 [12 Sep]). He enlisted at Blair County, Pennsylvania (2). He was mustered in, at Blair County, Pennsylvania, as a private in company I (1, 2, 12, 13).

He was transferred on 19 August 1862 to company E of the 45th Pennsylvania Infantry (1, 2, 3, 13).

He was discharged on 22 January 1863 (3). He was a private, in company I (12, 13).

After the war

On 22 April 1864, he applied successfully for a pension (4, 5).

In 1870, he was living in Patton Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania (post office Buffalo Run) (9). He was living with his wife Annie, and children Alton and William (9). He was a clerk in a store, and owned $250 in personal property (9).

In 1880, he was living in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Annie, and children Henry A, William M, Annie, and Milton C (10). He was a farmer (10).

In 1890, he was living in Warriors Mark Township or Burmingham Borough, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (3). He had a hernia (3).

In 1900, he was living at 1438 Blair Avenue, ward 5, Tyrone Borough, Blair County, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with his wife Annie, and sons Alton and William (11).

He died on 17 October 1900 (5).

On 2 November 1900, his widow, Annie C Krider, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).
