Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6-1/2 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair (2).

During the war

He was drafted from the fifth congressional district (1, 2). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 22 or 23 March 1865 (1 [23 Mar], 2 [22 Mar], 4 [22 Mar]). He was enlisted for one year, at Frankford, Pennsylvania, by Captain Yardley (2). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 7, 8, 9).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 4). He was a private, in company H (7, 8, 9).

After the war

On 25 August 1892, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).

In 1900, he was living at 568 Stanbridge Street, Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (5). He was a boarder, with Jane Hobson (5). He was not working (5). He was a widower (5).

In 1910, he was living at 568 Stanbridge Street, Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (6). He was a roomer with June Hobson [?] (6). He was living on his own income (6). He was a widower (6).

On 3 April 1911, he again applied for a pension (4).

He died on 24 May 1919, at Collegeville, [Montgomery County,] Pennsylvania (4).
