On 30 December 1863, Sinex reported that he was the only man who had more than fifteen months to serve who was unwilling to reenlist (2). On 2 January 1864, he was transferred to the 155th Pennsylvania Infantry, while those eligible were on veterans' leave (5).
On 15 April 1864, Lieutenant Colonel Sinex recommended him for a detail, in compliance with general order 18 (8 April 1864) from the Army Headquarters (3). He does not say what the detail was for.
According to a report in September (?) 1864, he had been detailed as a stretcher bearer by General Humphreys on 6 December 1862, and was still detailed there (4).
He was discharged on 2 June 1865, in the field near Washington DC, by special order (1) or by general order 26, War Department (6, 7). He was a private in company D (16, 17, 18, 19).
On 31 July 1866, his wife, Sarah Lazarus, died (14). She died at, or was buried from, Pine Grove, Gloster [presumably Gloucester City, Camden County, New Jersey, given Israel's death certificate] (14). She was buried in Monument Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (14).
