William R Lechron

Before the war

He was born on 21 July 1841 (15; 2 (23 in 1864), 6 [18 in 1860], 7 [25 in 1870], 8 [38 in 1880], 9 [50 in 1900], 10 [60 in 1910], 11 [69 in 1920]). He was born in York, Pennsylvania (2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

In 1860, he was living in South Woodbury Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (post office Pattonsville) (6). He was an apprentice to a miller (6).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5-1/2 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and light hair (2).

During the war

He was drafted (1). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 21 September 1864 (1, 2, 3, 5). He enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (2, 3). His enlistment was credited to the sixteenth congressional district (2, 3). He was a private in company C (1, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20).

He was discharged by general order on 24 June 1865 (1, 5). He was a private, in company C (14, 17, 18, 19, 20).

After the war

He married Savina [unknown family name] (9). She was born on 13 April 1928 (16). In 1900 and 1910, she had had six children, four of whom were alive (9, 10).

In 1870, he was living in South Woodbury Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (post office: Waterside) (7). He was living with his wife Lavina and daughter Annie (7). He was a miller, and owned $400 in personal property (7).

In 1880, he was living in Bloomfield Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Savina, his children Annie, DC, Edward, and Harry, and a servant (8). He was a miller (8).

On 25 November 1889, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (12, 13).

In 1890, he was living in Woodbury Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (5).

On 3 March 1900, he died (13 (3 Mar), 15 (31 Mar)). He was buried in Keagy Graveyard, in Woodbury Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (4, 15 (31 Mar 1900)).

On 11 April 1900, his widow, Savina Lecrone, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (12, 13).

In 1900, his widow, Savina Lecrone, was living in Woodbury Borough, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (9). She was living with her children Harry and Vinnie, and her father (9).

In 1910, his widow, Savina Lecrone, was living in Bedford County, Pennsylvania (10). She was living with her children Harry and Vina (10).

In 1920, his widow, Savina Lecrone, was living in Woodbury Borough, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (11). She was living with her children Harry and Vina (10).

On 13 April 1928, his widow, Savina H Lecrone, died (16). She was buried in Keagy Cemetery, Woodbury, Bedford County, Pennsylvania (16).
