On 2 March 1908, he died, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was survived by his wife, and children Newton (Ferndale), Mrs Martha Benford (Johnstown), Sophia (married to Charles Donahue, of Garrett), and Margaret (married to Noah Weaver, of Hooversville).
