Robert Loveless

Before the war

He was born in 1834/35 (2 (28 in 1863), 4 [34 in 1870], 5 [44 in 1880], 6 [72 in 1900], 7 [81 in 1910]). He was born in New York (4, 5) or Pennsylvania (6, 7).

In 1855/1857, he married Martha [unknown family name] (6, 7). They apparently had ten children, including these (4, 5, 6 (10 children, 4 alive in 1900), 7 (4 children, all alive in 1910)):

During the war

He was drafted (1, 2). He was mustered into service as a private in the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry on 15 October 1863, at Scranton, Pennsylvania (1, 2). He served in company B of the 118th Pennsylvania (3, 8).

He was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry to the 91st Pennsylvania Infantry on 1 June 1865 (1, 2). He was a private in company F of the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 9).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 2). He was a private, in company F (9).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Salem Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania (4). He was a farmer, and owned $1,000 in real estate and $300 in personal property (4). He was living with his wife Martha, with (presumably their children) Stella and Della, and another adult (4).

In 1880, he was living in Salem Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania (5). He was a sawyer (5). He was living with his wife Martha, and children Stella, Della, Carrie, and Eddie (5).

On 29 June 1880, he applied successfully for a pension (3, 8).

In 1900, he was living in Paupack Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania (6). He was a day laborer (6). He was living with his wife Martha, a daughter, and a niece (6).

On 26 [?] February 1907 [?], he again applied for a pension (8).

In 1910, he was living in Paupack Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania (7). He was a farmer, on a general farm (7). He was living with his wife Martha and a granddaugther (7).

He died on 14 May 1912, at Lakeville, Pennsylvania (8).

On 8 June 1912, his widow, Martha Loveless, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 8).
