Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, blue eyes, and grey hair (2).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 2). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 28 February 1865 (1, 2, 3, 10). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (2). His service was credited to the sixteenth congressional district (2). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 13-14).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 10). He was a private, in company H (13-14).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Menallen Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (5). He was a plasterer, and owned $1,400 in real estate and $300 in personal property (5). He was living with Louisa Donahue, a housekeeper (5).

In 1880, he was living in Menallen Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (6). He was a farmer (6). He was (still) living with Louisa Donahue (5).

In 1890, he was living in Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania (3).

On 23 July 1890, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (10, 15).

In 1900, he was living in Menallen Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his sister, Louisa Donohue (9). He was a farmer (9).

On Thursday 5 February 1903, he died at the home of Lewis Dull--presumably in Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania (8, 10 [26 Jan 1903], 12). He was a plasterer, and a Republican (8). He was buried by Montanna Lodge, IOOF (8). He was buried in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania (8, 11).

Bendersville Items.
FEB. 2--...

Hezekiah Mullen, one of Bendersville's oldest and highly [sic] respected citizens died at the home of Lewis Dull last Thursday, aged 79 years, 11 months and 21 days, and was buried Thursday afternoon by Montanna Lodge, I.O.O.F., of this place, of which Mr. Mullin was a member. Interment in the cemetery at this place. The funeral sermon was preached by his pastor, Rev. S. A. Diehl, in Bethlehem Lutheran church. Mr. Mullin was an old soldier, a plasterer by trade and a Republican in politics.
