In 1860, he was living in the 16th ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5). He was a machinist (5).

When he enlisted, he was a machinist (3).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5-7/8 [?] inches tall, and had a dark complexion, hazel eyes, and dark hair (3 ["5 3/4 1/8" inches]).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 9 September 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain McArthur (3). He was a private, in company A (1, 8).

He was discharged at Washington DC, on 8 May 1862 (1, 3) or 18 May 1862 (2), on surgeon's certificate of disability (1, 2, 3). He was a private, in company A (1, 2, 8).

After the war

On 15 April 1871, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (4).

He is probably the Elbert Noblit who married Martha J Porterfield (7).

His widow applied unsuccessfully for a pension (4).
