During the war

He was promoted to corporal (3, 6).

He was killed in action on 3 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia (1, 3, 4, 6 ["supposed to have been killed"], 7, 8). He was then a corporal in company B (1, 2, 4, 9 [no rank]).

He was reported missing in action on 7 May 1863 (2).
