In 1880, he was a miller, living in Emmittsburg, Frederick County, Maryland (3). He was living with his wife, Margaret E Peddicord, and their children Joseph, Mary, Anna, Sallie, Stella, Addie, John, and Florence. His wife, Margaret E Peddicord, was 30, born in Maryland, and keeping house (3).
In 1890, he was living in Emmitsburg District, Frederick County, Maryland (9).
On 19 July 1890, he applied from Maryland for a pension (application 861,785), which he received (certificate 755,439) (2, 8).
In 1900, he was living in Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland (10). He was living with his wife Margaret, children Charley, Allan, Alice, and Ella, and a grandson Roy (10). He was a carpenter, and had been out of work for three months in the previous year (10).
On 17 January 1906, he died (8 [1906], 11 [17 Jan 1906]). He died in Waukegan, [Lake County,] Illinois (11).

She was married to John A Peddicord (13). On 15 March 1924, she was buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Waukegon, Lake County, Illinois (12, 13).
