Before the war

In 1850, he was living in Jackson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with John and Hannah Reed (presumably his parents), and with Eliza, Catherine, Samuel, John, and Israel (presumably his siblings) (11).

In 1860, he was living in Jackson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylania (12). He was living with Hannah (presumably his mother), and with Elizabeth, Ester, Samuel, John, Israel, Robert, and Mary (presumably his siblings) (12). He was a farmer (12).

When he enlisted, he was a laborer (2).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 4 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair (2).

During the war

He was drafted (1). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 16 March 1865 (1, 2, 8 [15 Mar 65], 9). He was enlisted for one year, at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2). He was a private in company C (1, 9, 14).

He was mustered out by general order on 15 July 1865 (1, 8, 9). He was a private, in company C (14).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Jackson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (13). He was living with Hannah Reed (presumably his mother), and with Samuel, John, Israel, Robert, and Mary (presumably his siblings) (13). He was a day laborer (13).

On 30 June 1880, he applied successfully for a pension (4, 8).

In 1890, he was living in Jackson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (5).

He died on 10 June 1899 (8). He was buried in Friedens Cemetery, Jackson Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania (9 [Freidens], 10 [Friedens]).
