Since the index to compiled service records does not include a card for his service in the 91st, including him in the 91st is dubious. Perhaps he was temporarily assigned. I will order his compiled service record from K 91 New York Infantry to get more information.
He was born in 1838. [sources: date: 7]
He was enlisted and mustered into service on 30 August 1864, at Albany, New York. He was mustered in as a private in company K of the 91st New York Volunteers. [sources: 1, 2, 3-4, 5]
He was transferred to the 91st Pennsylvania. He served as a private in company K. [sources: 1, 2]
He was discharged by general order on 17 June 1865. He was apparently still a private in company K of the 91st New York infantry. [sources: 1, 2, 3-4]
On 11 September 1890, he successfully applied from New York for a pension. [sources: 5, 6]
On 29 September 1897, he died. He is buried in the Waterford Rural Cemetery, Waterford, [Saratoga County,] New York. [sources: 6, 7]
On 3 November 1897, his widow, Helen Maria Reinhart, successfully applied from New York for a pension (5, 6).
In 1919, his widow, Helen M Osterhous, died. She is buried in the Waterford Rural Cemetery, Waterford, [Saratoga County,] New York. [source: 7]
