During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 2 March 1865 (1, 3, 4, 5 [4 March]). He was mustered as a private, at Norristown, Pennsylvania (3). He was a private in company B (1, 10).

He may have been charged for lost equipments, perhaps when the regiment mustered out (2).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 4, 5). He was a private, in company B (10).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in New Hanover Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (8). He was a day laborer, and owned $150 in personal property (8). He was living with his wife Susan, with Reuben and Monroe Sell (presumably his children), and with Lucy Shankle (8).

On 11 February 1880, he successfully applied for a pension (4, 6).

In 1880, he was living in New Hanover Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (9). He was a laborer (9). He was living with his wife Susan and children Monroe, David, and Isaac (9).

In 1890, he was living in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (5).
