He was drafted at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3). He was mustered into service as a private in the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry on 1 August 1863 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3, 4 [only mentions 91st], 8). He was a private in company A of the 118th Pennsylvania (2, 7, 8).

On 2 June 1865, he was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania to company F of the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3 [1 Jun 65]). He was a private in company F of the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 9).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 4, 8). He was a private, in company F (9).

After the war

He lived in Pennsylvania after his discharge (8).

In 1890, he was living at 1014 Ellsworth Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4, 5). He was a driver (5).

On 30 October 1905, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (6, 7).

On 2 March 1907, he again applied for a pension (7).

He died at 545 AM, on 4 September 1930, at the Southern Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Virginia (7, 8). He died of acute hypertrophic cardiac dilatation, due to arteriosclerosis (8).
