When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair (8).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 5 or 6 February 1864 (1, 8 [5 Feb]). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Lane [?] (8). He was a private in company I (1, 9).

On 2 March 1864, Colonel Gregory detached him for duty with the recruiting service in Chester, Pennsylvania (2, 4). On 27 April 1864, Sinex asked that he be returned to the regiment (3).

On 8 June 1864, he was detailed for duty in Brigade headquarters (5). On 4 July 1864, he was detailed for duty at Brigade headquarters, as a hostler (6, 7). He was still there in September (?) 1864 (7).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1). He was a private, in company I (9).
