John L. Smith, born in Philadelphia, March 19, 1846; enlisted November 10, 1862; entered Company K [118th PA] as private; promoted to corporal; slightly wounded at North Anna and Bethesda Church; was with the regiment in all its battles, marches and skirmishes; mustered out July 10, 1865; at present publisher of maps and atlases, Philadelphia.
