He was born on 19 August 1841 (6; 2 (23 in 1865), 7 (17 in 1860), 8 (27 in 1870), 9 (38 in 1880), 13 (8 in 1850)). He was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania (2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12). He was born to John Snoke and Nancy Lutz (6).

In 1850, he was living in Southampton Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (13). He was living with his parents John and Nancy Snoke, and presumed siblings Lydia, Daniel, and John (13). He had attended school within the year (13).

In 1860, he was living in Logan [?] Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his parents John and Nancy Snoke, and presumed siblings Lydia, Samuel, John, and Henry [?] (7). He had attended school (7).

He married (1) Ann Rebecca [unknown family name] (6). They had two children (6):

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair (2).

During the war

He also served in company D of the 7th Maryland Infantry (3, 4). He served from June 1863 to November 1864 (4). He was taken prisoner (5).

He was a substitute (1). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 4 March 1865 (1, 2). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2). He was a private in company C (1, 14).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1). He was a private, in company C (14).

After the war

He married (2) Elizabeth Jane Coffenberger (5, 6). They had one child (5, 6):

In 1870, he was living in Southampton Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Elisabeth and child Anna (8). He was a carpenter, and owned $500 in personal property (8).

In 1880, he was living in Southampton Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his family, his mother-in-law, and a servant (9). He was a laborer (9).

On 18 February 1881, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 11).

In 1890, he was living in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri (4).

He died on 26 August 1897, from injuries due to a boiler explosion (5, 6, 12). He was buried in Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas (5, 12).

On 3 September 1897, his widow, Elizabeth J Snoke, applied successfully from Kansas for a pension (3, 11).

In 1900, his widow, Elizabeth Snope, was living in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas (10). She was living with her grandson Frank Walter (10).

His widow, Elizabeth Snoke, died on 17 October 1901, in Kansas City, Kansas, of consumption (5).
