He was born in 1835/36 (3 (25 in 1861)).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service in company G of the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry, commanded by Captain A J Sellers, on 17 September 1861 (1, 2, 3). He was enlisted for 3 years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Gilbert (3). By mistake he was entered on the list for company G of the 91st, commanded by Captain E G Sellers (2, 3, 4-5).

He was transferred to company G of the 90th Pennsylvania Infantry (1, 2).
