Before the war

He was born about 1847 (7; 2 (21 in 1865), 8 (13 in 1860), 9 (23 in 1870)). He was born in York County, Pennsylvania (7, 8, 9). He was born to Jacob Seifert and Mary Grim (7).

In 1860, he was living in Oxford Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with Jacob and Mary Seifert (presumably his parents), with Mary (presumably his sister), and with Andrew Rickrode (8).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 2, 7). He was mustered into service as a private on 28 February 1865 at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3). He was a private in company F (1, 7, 11-13).

He was absent, sick, when the regiment mustered out (1, 2, 3 [discharged 10 Jul 65]). He was a private, in company F (11-13).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Oxford Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with Jacob and Mary Seifert (9). He was a laborer (9).

He married Margaret [unknown family name] (7).

On 15 May 1887, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

In 1890, he was living in Hamilton, Adams County, Pennsylvania (post office Round Hill) (3).

On 25 June 1892 [?], his widow, Margaret Seifert, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

He died on 1 June [or January] 1892, at Heidlersburg, Pennsylvania (5 [Jan], 6 [June], 7 [June[). He was buried in the Conewago Chapel Basilica Cemetery, Conewago, Adams County, Pennsylvania (6, 7).

In 1900, his widow, Maggie Seifert, was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania (10).
