During the war

He was drafted, from the 62nd subdistrict of the 7th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. He enlisted and was mustered into service on 16 March 1865, at Hollidaysburg, [Blair County,] Pennsylvania. He was enlisted for one year, at Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Lloyd. He reported for duty on 16 March 1865. His service was credited to the seventeenth congressional district. He was a private in company D. [sources: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7-8, 9]

He is listed on a muster and descriptive roll of a detachment of drafted men and substitutes forwarded for the 91st Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry, dated Draft rendezvous, Carlisle Pennsylvania, 29 March 1865. [source: 9]

On the March-April 1865 company muster roll, he is listed as absent sick, from 28 April 1865. [source: 6]

His descriptive list was forwarded to the surgeon in charge of Campbell Hospital. [source: 3]

He was discharged at Campbell US Hospital, Washington, DC, because of disability, in compliance with paragraph 6 of general order 77, War Department, 28 April 1865, and telegram, Adjutant General's Office, 3 May 1865.
