He married Rose Ann Hay in 1851, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She was born in October 1835, in Pennsylvania. They apparently had these ten children:

In 1860, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer, and owned $500 in personal property. He was living with his wife Rose Ann and three children. [source: 10]

During the war

He was drafted. He enlisted and was mustered into service on 11 March 1865. He was mustered in at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania as a private, in company B. [sources: 1, 6, 18]

He may have been charged for lost equipments, perhaps when the regiment mustered out. [source: 5]

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer, and owned $8000 in real estate and $1850 in personal property. He was living with his wife Roseanna and seven children. [source: 11]

On 22 June 1880, he successfully applied for a pension. [source: 7]

In 1880, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was an inventor. He was living with his wife, Rosa Ann, and their ten children. [source: 3]

He died on 11 January 1887. He was buried in Union Cemetery, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. [sources: 4, 14, 15]

On 7 May 1887, his widow, Rose A Walker, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension. [sources: 2, 7]

In 1890, his widow, Rosy A Walker, was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He had had chronic diarrhea and heart disease. [source: 8]

In 1900, his widow, Rosie Walker, was living in Somerset Borough, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She was living with four of her children. [source: 12]

In 1910, his widow Rosie A Walker was living at 26 East South Street, Somerset Borough, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She was living with three of her children. [source: 13]
