A General Court Martial is hereby appointed to meet at Head Qrs 1st Division at 10 Oclock AM on the 9th day of January 1865 or as soon thereafter as practicable for the trial of Capt. John V. Hunterson of the 118th Penn Vols. and such other cases as may be brought before it.

January 12th 1865, the court met pursuant to adjournment, all the members present, and the accused, 1st Lieutenant Thomas F. Walter, Company "A" 91st Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteers. The order convening the court being read to the accused, he was asked if he had any objections to any member named therein, [page 10] to which he replied that he had not. The court being duly sworn by the judge advocate and the judge advocate by the president of the court in the presence of the accused. The accused was arraigned upon the following charge and specification.

Charge--Disobedience of Orders

Specification--In this that the said Thohomas [sic] F. Walter 1st Lieut. Company "A" 91st Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteers having been duly detailed to go on picket by the Adjutant on the 31st day of December 1864 and having been told by Col. Eli G. Sellers commanding the Regiment that he could not be excused unless by surgeon's certificate did positivily [sic] refuse to obey the order. All this at the Camp of the 91st Regiment Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteers on or about the 31st day of December 1864.

of the Charge--Guilty
And the Court do therefore sentence him, the said first Lieutenant Thomas F. Walter Company "A" 91" Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteers to be cashiered
