He again applied for a pension on 3 November 1909 (9).
He died on 18 January 1929, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2, 8, 9, 10). The funeral services were Tuesday 22 January 1929, at his son C Harry Walz's residence, 1035 Chelten Avenue, Oak Lane (8). Members of the Courtland Saunders Post, No. 21, GAR were invited to the funeral service (8). He was buried in Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (2, 8, 10). His grave has a GAR marker (10).
