In 1860, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was living with John P Boquin [?] and others. He was a farm hand. [source: 12]

When he enlisted, he was a laborer. His (apparent) brothers, Abraham Weigle and William Weigle, also served in the 91st Pennsylvania. [sources: 2, 9]

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 10 inches tall, and had a florid complexion, grey eyes, and light hair. [source: 2]

During the war

He was a substitute for Peter Miller. He enlisted and was mustered into service on 23 March 1865. He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster. His service was credited to the Sixteenth Congressional District. He was a private in company G. [sources: 1, 2, 3, 15, 17]

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was living with his parents Emanuel and Catharine, and others (presumably siblings). He was a laborer on a farm, and owned $210 in personal property. [source: 13]

He married Lydiann [unknown family name]. She was born in 1851/52 [?], in Pennsylvania. They had four known children:

In 1890, he was living in Huntingdon Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [source: 3]

On 25 August 1890, he successfully applied for a pension. [sources: 4, 8]

In 1900, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer. He was widowed. He was living with his children Annie Weigle, Elsie Weigle and Syvlia Herman, and with his granddaughter Flossie Herman. [source: 6]

In 1910, he was living in Huntington, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was living with his daughters Annie and Elsie, and a hired man. He was a farmer, on a general farm. [source: 14]
