Before the war

He was born in 1815/16 (2 (45 in 1861), 3 (29 in 1861), 4 (45 in 1861), 7 (38 in 1860), 11 (66 at death in 1893), 12 (28 in 1850)). He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2, 4, 7, 11, 12).

In 1850, he was living in ward 3, Southwark, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (12). He was living with Mary (presumably his wife), and with William and John (presumably their children), and John (perhaps a sibling) (12). He was a printer (12).

In 1860, he was living in the 18th ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with Mary (presumably his wife), and with William, Anna, and Elizabeth (presumably his children) (7). He was a printer (7).

When he enlisted, he was a printer (2, 4).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 9-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, blue eyes, and chestnut hair (2, 4).

During the war

He also served in the 26th Pennsylvania (13).

He enlisted and was mustered into service as a private on 2 December 1861, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 [May 62], 10). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Kayser (2, 4). He was mustered in as a private, in company B, by Lieutenant Kayser (1, 2, 4, 13).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1, 3).

He was wounded on 18 June 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia (1, 3, 4).

He was dropped from the rolls on 1 July 1865, as a deserter (1, 3, 5 [Jul 65], 9, 10). He was a private, in copmany B (13).

After the war

In 1890 he was living at 2203 Belgrade Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5, 6). He was a printer (6).

On 15 September 1882, he applied unsuccessfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (8, 10).

On 18 June 1893, he died, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of apoplexy (11). He died at, or was buried from, 630 Belgrade Street, 18th ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11). He was a printer (11). He was married (11). On 21 June 1893, he was buried, at Mt Moriah Cemetery (11).
