Before the war

When he enlisted, he was a miner (4, 5).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a florid complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair (4, 5).

During the war

He enlisted on 9 December 1863, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by Captain Wright, for three years (4, 5, 10). He was mustered into service on 11 December 1863 in the 62nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1, 4). He was mustered in by Lieutenant Brooks, at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (4 [Hook], 5).

He was transferred on 20 July 1864 from company L of the 62nd Pennsylvania to the 91st (1). On 21 July 1864, he, and the other members of companies L and M, were assigned to company G (2). On 22 July 1864, they were transferred to company K, following brigade orders to assign them to the smallest company (3). He was then present, as a private (3). He was a private in company K, in the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 11).

On 30 April 1865, he was reported absent sick (7).

In June 1865, he was detailed in the provost guard in the Division Hospital (8).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 10). He was a private, in company K (11).

After the war

He died on 3 April 1872 (6).

On 24 July 1883, his widow, Christina Wilson, successfully applied for a pension (6, 9).

Ih 1890, his widow, Christina Wilson, was living in Forward Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (10).
