Daniel Yingling

Before the war

He was born in September 1841, in Pennsylvania, to Jacob and Julyann Yingling. [sources: date: 16; 2 (23 in 1865), 11 (8 in 1850), 12 (18 in 1860), 13 (29 in 1870), 14 (38 in 1880), 17 (68 in 1910). place: 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17. parents: 12]

In 1850, he was living in Oley, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was living with Jacob Kauffman and others. [source: 11]

In 1860, he was living in Earl Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was living with his (presumed) parents Jacob and Julyann Yingling, and with others (presumably siblings). He was a day laborer. [source: 12]

During the war

He was a substitute. He enlisted and was mustered into service in the 118th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on 2 March 1865. He was mustered in as a private, at Reading, [Berks County,] Pennsylvania. [sources: 1, 2 (21 Mar 65)]

He was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was a private in company B of the 91st. [sources: 1, 2, 3-4]

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865. He was a private, in company B. [sources: 1, 3-4]

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Current River Township, Ripley County, Missouri. He was the postmaster. He was living with his (presumed) brother Jacob Yingling. [source: 13]

On 30 July 1871, he married Mary C Ponder, in Ripley [County], Missouri. They apparently had at least two children:

In 1880, he was living in Ripley Township, Missouri. He was living with his children Sarah and Henry. He was a farmer, and was widowed or divorced. [source: 14]

On 23 June 1881, he married Mary A Grisson, in Ripley [County], Missouri. She was born in October 1847, in North Carolina. This was his second marriage, and her first. They apparently had no children. [sources: 10, 16, 17]

In 1890, he was living in Ripley County, Missouri. His post office address was Washington, Ripley County, Missouri. [source: 15]

On 28 July 1890, he applied successfully from Missouri for a pension, under the Act of 27 June 1890 [sources: 5, 6]

In 1900, he was living in Varner Township, Ripley County, Missouri. He was living with his wife Mary. He was a farmer. [source: 16]

Effective 17 August 1904, he received a pension of $12 per month. The pension certificate was dated 8 December 1904. [source: 7]

In 1910, he was living in Varner Township, Ripley County, Missouri. He was living with his wife Mary Ann. He was not working (but was living on a farm, which he owned). [source: 17]

On 28 September 1911, he applied successfully for a pension, under the Act of 6 February 1907. He received $15 per month, effective 28 September 1911; the pension certificate was dated 16 October 1911. [sources: 5, 7]

Effective 23 May 1912, he received a pension of $18 per month, under the Act of 11 May 1912. The pension certificate was dated 29 October 1912. [source: 7]

On 25 December 1914, he died, at Oxly, [Ripley County,] Missouri. He was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Oxly, Ripley County, Missouri. [sources: 5, 7, 8]

On 11 January 1915, his widow, Mary Ann Yingling, applied unsuccessfully from Missouri for a pension. [sources: 5, 6]
