This is the Isaac Sloan Rochelle house, built about 1920 on Grainger Ave. across from the stadium. It is still standing and in good shape.
It is described as a large double pile, center hall plan frame house with gable roof and large gable dormer. Classical Revival influence; one story wraparound porch with porte cochere has square section posts and balusters, low gables over entrance bay and at ends; entrance has transom and sidelights; tow story rear wing. The builder and contractor Ike Rochelle was responsible for the construction of many houses in this district and was principal contractor for Grainger High School.
Ike Rochelle, lived in this house, and was an affluent man of his time, until after the depression when he lost all his money and home. He was also a farmer, and farmed most of the land where Grainger Stadium now stands.
(Ike Rochelle is standing on the porch, in front of his mule.)
