Croom Family History Photos

submitted by Donna Lebedynsky

After most careful and intensive research, this family finds that the first
Crooms came to America from Gloucester, England in 1664 and settled in the
New England states

The next Crooms left "Croom" in Lemerick, Ireland, came to Virginia in 1700,
or prior to that time. Took up land grants, and established "Homes" on the
James River

From there, three Croom brothers moved down and settled in the eastern counties
of North Carolina in 1741

This site, named by the Indians as "Sandy Bottom" has been used by the Crooms
continually ever since

Nearby, the little "Meeting House" still stands on sacred sod where many souls
have met and found their way to God
