Obituary: Brooklyn, Poweshiek County, Iowa (Source: Brooklyn Chronicle, transcribed by Marilyn Holmes, HALL, Rosetta Jane (Hamilton) Died, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Meldrem, in south Brooklyn, Iowa, Jan. 22, 1899, Rosetta Hall, aged 74 years, 4 months and 19 days. Rosetta Hamilton Hall was born in Butler County, Ohio, Sept. 3, 1824. At the age of twelve years she with her family moved to Berrien County, Michigan. She was united in marriage to Elijah Hall in the year of 1842. They continued to reside in Michigan (Berrien County) until the year of 1881 when they moved to Poweshiek County, Iowa, where she resided up to the time of her death. She was the mother of 11 children, nine of whom are left to mourn the loss of a kind mother, two with her husband having preceded to the great beyond. She was a member of the Brethren Church of which she was a devoted and faithful member. She was a great sufferer, having been afflicted with rheumatism for the last twenty years of her life and part of the time almost blind. For the last two years of her life she was unable to walk unassisted.)

Obituary: January 1898, Brooklyn, Poweshiek County, Iowa (Source: Gail Erickson, Tuesday, September 23, 2003 10:39 PM, George Hall Obit: George Hall died at his home, in southwest Bear Creek Twp, Wednesday morning, January 12, 1898. George Hall, aged 70 years, 10 months and 27 days. Deceased was born in Butler County, Ohio, February 15, 1827. When twelve years of age he accompanied his fathers family to Berrien County Michigan where at the age of 24 years was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Deardorff. By this union eleven children were born, seven of whom survive to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father. In 1865 he moved his family to Poweshiek County Iowa, where he has since resided and during these years, almost a third of a century, his walk among us has been such as to command the respect and esteem of all with whom he came in contact. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor and friend, and a loving father and husband. The funeral services were held at the Brethren Church in south Brooklyn Iowa Thursday at 11 o'clock which was largely attended by old neighbors and friends. Revs Kendrick and Hardy conducted the services and spoke in the highest terms of the character and life of the deceased. At the conclusion of the services, the remains were taken to the IOOF Cemetery and tenderly laid to rest to await the call on the resurrection morn. Source: Brooklyn Chronicle.)

Misc.: Obituary (Source: Brooklyn Chronicle, Oct. 27, 1932 via -Marilyn Holmes via Gail , ANDREW JACKSON HALL: Andrew Jackson Hall, 73, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Hoffman after a long illness. Mr. Hall was born Sept. 8, 1859 in Weesaw Township, Berrien County, Michigan, the son of Elijah and Rosetta Hamilton Hall and grew to manhood there leaving at the age of 22 and moving to Brooklyn, Iowa, where he made his home 52 years. He was a member of the Brethren Church at south Brooklyn for many years. Two and a half years ago he came to Buchanan, Michigan to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Hoffman at 220 Lake St. Soon after he came here his health began to fail. For the past seven weeks he failed rapidly. His wife died at Brooklyn 31 years ago. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jane Puderbaugh of Ozwaki, Kansas; by a brother, George Hall of Brooklyn, Iowa; by two daughters, Helen Hall of Brooklyn and Mrs. Charles Hoffman of Buchanan; by six sons, Leonard, Clarence, Russell, Lawrence, Orange Hall of Brooklyn and Earl Hall of Fort Collins, Colorado; also by 14 grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Hoffman Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Rev. Boettcher preaching the funeral sermon and interment was made in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.)
