Welcome to the Palmer Family

Cordelia Hall Lee

Cordelia is my great great grandmother.

She was baptised on 20 June 1826 in Flushing, Cornwall, (viewed on the right about 1850, as seen from Penryn).

Cordelia married Benjamin Palmer in the Parish Church at St Gluvias, Penryn, (below) on 06 December 1847. The couple had three children, Cordelia (born 1848), Benjamin (born 12 August 1850) and Rhoda (born 08 February 1853).

In the 1851 Census the family were living at 79 Broad Street, Penryn. Cordelia's occupation was "Domestic" although she also added "Sailor's wife".

Sometime after May 1852 her husband died, and Cordelia married James Rowe, a confectioner, on 17 May 1855 at St Gluvias Parish Church (below).

In the 1861 Census Cordelia and her new family were living at 220 Broad Street, with three children, all born in Penryn: Rhoda aged 8 (from her first marriage to Benjamin Palmer), James aged 5 and Edith, aged 3.

By this time Cordelia appears to have left one or more of the children of her first marriage. Rhoda was living with her grandfather's second wife in Helston, Cordelia junior was visiting her in Helston, and Benjamin was being brought up by his aunt, Annie, and her husband Edward Maddock, possibly in Ireland.

Cordelia may have died in 1897.
