Served in WW2 in Toole Greenland and later taught small arms at West Point. After the war he worked for the Highway Department for the NY Dept. of Transportation as a photographer and highway planner. Late in life sufferred from diabetes and Parkinsons. Suffered a massive stroke around 7AM 3/11/99 and dies 26 hours later.

He attended Washington School and Hornell High School from 1922-1937. Applied for summer vacation work permit for employment in 1932. He took Trade Drafting I and II from 1933-1937. Later took courses in Drafting and Blueprint Reading (1938-8) and Elements of Highway Construction(1947-8) from Hornell High night extension classes.

His first employment was from July1935-Sept 1935 working on the reconstruction of the Hornell Reservoir after the 1935 flood. This included concretework, excavation and fill work. The dam was a concrete core in an earth work dam with overflow and chack gates.

From Sept 1937 to Mar 1939 he worked as a machine operator helper for a Mr. Livingston of EJ Albrech Construction Co.

From March 1939 to November 1939 worked on a larger scale for the Arkport Flood Control Dam. Here he worked on construction of overflow tunnels, water control gates, and spillways. He helped control quality of concrete batches and aggregate.

From Mar 1939 to February 1941 he worked as a truck driver for AD Wilcox.

From July 1940 to Dec 1940 he worked for Spencer and Ross Construction Company on the construction of river levies and small check dams in the Canisteo River as part of the Hornell Flood Control. He job involved heavy rip rap work and spent some time as rodman and chainman. He worked for his eventual brother in law.

From February 1941 to February 1942 he worked as a truck driver for Earl Richtmyer.

He enlisted in 16 Feb 1942 in the US Army with serial number 32234396. He served in Newfoundland 30 Apr 1942 till 8 July 1943. He then taught small arms at West Point. He rose to become a Seargent and Squad Leader. He was discharged in October 28, 1945. He received a Good Conduct and American Theatre Ribbon.

Beginning in December 1945 he worked for the Highway Department for the NY Dept. of Transportation as a Junior Draftsman, Junior Aid, Senior Engineering Aid, and Junior Civil Engineer. He was a rodman, chainman, photographer and highway planner. He retired in 1978
