Wrote a privately published book named "Uncle Alvin at Home and Abroad" in 1895. He live at 18 East Washington St. Hornell New York. His early life was spent on a farm in Fremont NY. For many years he ran a music store in Hornell. He had prepared for the ministry at Alfred University. He wrote many poems which appeared in local papers. According to 1891 Steuben County Historical, Gazetteer he sold musical merchandise and sewing machines at 28 Canisteo St. & lived at 18 E. Washingt
on St. see RecBkPg 60 Found death certificate showing that he died of cancer and that his father was William of Otsego Co. NY. The 1850 Steuben Co. NY census shows Almon and his father William in Howard NY. The "Steuben Co. Directory 1869-69"
lists Almon and brother Ira in Fremont (Stephens Mills) living together. Listed as Farmers 125 In the 1863 Hornellsville Directory it shows Almon living on 18 E Wahington and runing a store on Cannisteo St selling pianos, organs, sewingmachines
