Robert Bankhead, son of James Bankhead and Elizabeth Black , was born 1765 in Pinckneyville, York, Sc. He married Nancy Holcombe 1789 in South Carolina. He died August 15, 1835 in Winnsboro, Fairfield County, Sc. Nancy Holcombe, daughter of Richard Holcombe and Sarah , was born 1771 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. She died in October, 1795 in Tennessee.

Robert must have met and married Nancy Holcombe in South Carolina, had one female child,Elizabeth(2 females and one male are listed for the household of Robert for the 1790 Federal census) then moved to Tennessee where George and Richard were born. Then when Nancy died giving birth to Richard,or soon after,Robert moved the family back to South Carolina where he married Elizabeth Winn three years later and had more children.
