Susan Fleming Hollis lived, before her marriage with her parents at their plantation at old Moscow, Marion County,Alabama. Her father, John Hollis, was a Colonel of the militia, 6'4" tall, who is said to have brought a library of classics to his wilderness home.
Her grandfather, Captain John Hollis, b. in Fairfax Co.,Va.in 1751,served under General Francis Marion during the Revolutionary War, having moved to Fairfield, South Carolina,where he died in 1836.
