Columbia, SC He contracted polio at age six months and wore braces on his legs for most of his childhood. He moved to Columbia with his mother Jennie and stepfather David F. Smith in about 1923 and attended and graduated from Draughon's Business College and in 1930 went to work at R. L. Bryan Co. as a Warehouse Clerk for distributing school books statewide. He worked with them until his death in 1967. His main interests were church at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, SC and watching sports from the sidelines and on television in addition to being a good father and husband. Both are buried in the First Presbyterian Church cemetery adjacent to the church in Columbia,SC
