The following is an email I sent to the Hampshire Record Office, and their reply, when I asked where I stand with regard to transcribing Parish Registers from micro fiches purchased from them, onto the web:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have purchased some parish registers from yourselves on micro fiche and
was wondering if you would object to me transcribing them and displaying
them on a web site.

I would put an obvious message on the site telling visitors to check their
findings with Hampshire Records Office.

I look forward to your response,

Colin Pink

Dear Mr Pink,

Thankyou for your your email. There should be no problem with you transcribing
and publishing parish registers from our office. There are no copyright
restrictions on this information, and as you are transcribing the entries
yourself you should not be infringing any restrictions on other published
transcripts or indexes.

Yours sincerely,

Archives Assistant
