OBIT_MELISSA_FUREYHer obit (from a newspaper dated 22 August [a Sunday] 1920) reads:

“Mrs. Melissa Ruth Cruickshank. Mrs. Melissa Ruth Cruickshank, well known woman of Yucaipa, and wife of John W. Cruickshank, passed away at the home in that community on Wednesday. She was 61 years of age and a native of Pennsylvania, and had come to California 37 years ago, residing for the past 10 years at Yucaipa. Besides her husband, she leaves four children: Helen E., Ruth M., William F., and Bernard A. Funeral service will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the chapel of Cortner Brothers, Redlands, and interment will be in the Hillside cemetery there.”

This obit is interesting from two stand points: 1) It is the only reference I've seen so far as to her middle name, "Ruth". 2) The obit says she died on Wednesday before the 22nd of August in 1920. Wednesday that week (of that year) was on the 18th of August. However, the "official" California state death index says Melissa died on 20 August 1920, a Friday in 1920!! Obit must be wrong!?
