OBITUARY:

Dora Alice ROTH was born Feb. 28, 1880, near Comstock, NE. and was the fourth child of Jonas Spatch (Specht) and Virginia EUBANK_ROTH. When a small child, she moved with her family to Gilliam, MO. where she received her education. Upon completing high school, she returned to the old homestead in Custer Co. with her family. At the age of sixteen, she began her chosen vocation, teaching school and continued to teach at intervals throughout her life.

On December 16, 1900, she was united in marriage with Samuel Pearl WALTON, who passed away in 1919, leaving her with four small daughters.

In her early youth, she united with the church in Gilliam and after her marriage, joined the Congregation Church at Wescott.

On October 21, 1921, she was married to Henry Ormand PIERCE, who preceeded her in death on March 09, 1945. The remainder of her life was spent at the old home in Somerford Valley where their only son Ormand PIERCE was born.

One brother, Clifford Ivan, preceeded her in death. Remaining to mourn her departure are four daughters, Mrs. "Jackie" Jessie WALTON_WILLHOIT, Mrs. Dorothy WALTON_DOWSE, Mrs. Ethel WALTON_STRAIGHT, all of Sargent, Mrs. Marcia WALTON_KNIGHT, Torrington, WY. and one son, Ormand PIERCE of Sargent. There are nine grandchildren and two gr-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Esther ROTH_MATTOX of Sargent, Mrs. Nellie ROTH_ANDERSON of Fleming, CO. and Mrs. "Hallie" Halycon ROTH_BENNETT of Tulare, CA.; three brothers, William Bradley and Edgar ROTH of Comstock, and Fred ROTH of Batesland. S.D. She leaves also many other relatives and friends.

There was never a task too difficult for her to do and the opportunity to help others was never passed. Her busy, useful life ended March 02, 1951 at her home in Somerford, NE. Her years were too short to do all the tasks she planned to accomplish for her family.
