Oct 1882 in Missouri     Son Arthur b. Feb 1885 4 mi S.W. of Comstock Looking at the 2 families and the children's births, I've determined that they came to NE after Oct 1882 and before Feb 1885.      John Roy was born in NE in Mar 1890 .  The family picture was taken in Arcadia, NE and Roy looks about 2 or 3 so I've guessed they went back to MO in 1892 or 93.  John was kicked by a horse and died in MO Jul 1894.  My grandmother Mary Durham had married Charles Bartholomew in Feb 1894 and was living SW of Comstock and had her first child in Nov 1894 and I've thought that was the reason Louisa moved back to NE.     I have a newspaper article dated abt 1916 that states that Roy Durham and his mother had moved to Mullen NE to stake their claim.  My aunt Marie (1908) and aunt Madge (1911) used to talk about going to stay with their grandmother Durham at Mullen.  One of the things they always laughed about was how she always checked their hair for sand fleas before they went to bed.  Then Frank & Mary Durham lived at Mullen so maybe Louisa was there for quite a few years.  My earliest memory of her was of living in a sod house SW of Comstock very near her daughter Eva and her family  I was quite small so it could have been as early as 1928.  She lived there many years but at the time of her death, I think she had moved into Comstock with your grandparents.  And uncle Arthur lived in Comstock all of his life except the short time in MO.     I suppose finances played a part in the reason Louisa is buried at Comstock instead of MO.  And it was during the war when there was not much traveling because of gas and tire rationing.  I was living in Omaha by then so did not attend the funeral.     In reading from your web-site, I was happy to see the name and location of the cemetery where John is buried but the date is Jul 1924 (I think) instead of 1894.  Could that be a typo or I'm wondering if that was the year the stone was set and it was engraved incorrectly.     I'm sure my mother and dad would have been at your granddad's funeral but there are always so many people to see at a funeral, you would not have remembered seeing them.     I just think e-mail is wonderful and pretty soon, we won't even be able to afford regular mail Have a good day.                             Margaret
